His consistent performances in domestic List-A cricket also helped him secure a spot in the ODI squad. Afridi confirmed that Maaz Sadaqat will open the batting, while Shamyl Hussain is expected to play at number three. The captain expressed confidence that the youngsters will adapt quickly and showcase their talent at the international level.

He also pointed out that several players in the squad are already familiar with Bangladeshi conditions due to their participation in domestic leagues played in the country.

Pakistan Looking to Continue Strong ODI Form

Pakistan enter the series with solid momentum in the ODI format. The team recently secured series victories against South Africa national cricket team and Sri Lanka national cricket team at home. Meanwhile, Bangladesh come into the contest after registering a win against the West Indies national cricket team in their latest ODI outing. Afridi acknowledged that Bangladesh are always a difficult side to beat at home but said Pakistan are confident of continuing their winning run.

The series also serves as important preparation for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 scheduled to take place in South Africa.

Major Changes in Pakistan Squad

Pakistan have made significant changes for the series, leaving out some experienced names including Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub. The move signals the team’s focus on testing new talent and building a balanced squad for future international tournaments.
