The much-anticipated ODI series between Pakistan national cricket team and Bangladesh national cricket team begins on March 11 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi has confirmed that three players will make their One Day International debuts in the opening match. The debutants include Sahibzada Farhan, Maaz Sadaqat and Shamyl Hussain, all of whom will be playing their first 50-over international game for Pakistan.

Speaking ahead of the match, Afridi said the team management has decided to give opportunities to promising young players. Farhan earned his place after an impressive performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup where he scored 383 runs in seven matches. His consistent performances in domestic List-A cricket also helped him secure a spot in the ODI squad. Afridi confirmed that Maaz Sadaqat will open the batting, while Shamyl Hussain is expected to play at number three. The captain expressed confidence that the youngsters will adapt quickly and showcase their talent at the international level.
He also pointed out that several players in the squad are already familiar with Bangladeshi conditions due to their participation in domestic leagues played in the country.
Pakistan Looking to Continue Strong ODI Form
Pakistan enter the series with solid momentum in the ODI format. The team recently secured series victories against South Africa national cricket team and Sri Lanka national cricket team at home. Meanwhile, Bangladesh come into the contest after registering a win against the West Indies national cricket team in their latest ODI outing. Afridi acknowledged that Bangladesh are always a difficult side to beat at home but said Pakistan are confident of continuing their winning run.
The series also serves as important preparation for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 scheduled to take place in South Africa.
