ChatGPT users across several regions faced temporary access issues on February 3 after OpenAI’s chatbot experienced a brief service disruption. The outage affected both web and mobile users, leaving many unable to log in or encountering error messages while using the platform.

According to outage tracking website DownDetector, thousands of users reported problems during the disruption window, highlighting how widely the issue was felt. The interruption caused inconvenience for individuals and businesses that depend on ChatGPT for everyday tasks such as writing, research, and customer support.

OpenAI acknowledged the problem shortly after reports surfaced, stating that its engineering team was actively working to stabilise the service. The company later confirmed that the issue had been resolved and normal functionality was gradually restored.

“Between 00:56 AM PDT and 02:49 AM PDT, we observed degraded performance on ChatGPT. This incident has now been resolved,” OpenAI said in an official update.

Within a few hours, user complaints dropped sharply, and access to ChatGPT returned to normal across affected regions. While OpenAI has not shared details about what caused the disruption, the swift response helped limit prolonged downtime.
