New Delhi, August 18, 2025 – Telecom giant Airtel faced a major service outage in the Delhi-NCR region on Monday, leaving thousands of users unable to make outgoing calls. While incoming calls and mobile data remained functional, customers reported that outgoing calls were failing consistently for nearly two hours in the early evening.
The issue didn’t just affect Airtel users—subscribers of Jio and Vodafone Idea also complained of call drops and failed connections whenever they attempted to reach Airtel numbers.
An Airtel spokesperson confirmed the localized issue, saying:
“Our customers in Delhi-NCR experienced intermittent voice calling disruptions for about an hour. A significant portion of the problem was resolved quickly, and our engineers worked on restoring full services. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused.”
Officials at Jio and Vodafone Idea clarified that their own networks remained unaffected, with disruptions only observed while connecting calls to Airtel users.
As the outage spread, many frustrated customers took to social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) to highlight the problem. Downdetector, a real-time outage monitoring website, recorded a sharp spike in user complaints from the Delhi-NCR region during the downtime.
By late evening, Airtel confirmed that all services had been fully restored, assuring customers that measures were being taken to prevent such disruptions in the future.
