Final Goodbye at Jharkhand Assembly with State Honors

Former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and founder of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Shibu Soren, will be given a final farewell today, Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the Jharkhand Assembly premises. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) announced the schedule on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating that “Shibu Soren will be given a farewell with full state honors at 9 AM on August 5.”

Last Rites in Native Village, Nemra (Ramgarh)
After the tribute ceremony in Ranchi, Shibu Soren’s body will be taken to his native village Nemra in Ramgarh district, where the last rites will be performed. Thousands of people from across the state are expected to gather and pay their final respects to their beloved leader.

A Shining Star in Jharkhand Politics
Popularly known as “Guruji,” Shibu Soren was a towering figure in the political landscape of Jharkhand. He played a vital role in the Jharkhand statehood movement and fiercely fought for the rights of tribal communities and land protection. Born on January 11, 1944, in Nemra village (then part of undivided Bihar’s Hazaribagh district), he founded the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and was instrumental in the formation of Jharkhand state.

Served in Both State and Central Governments
Shibu Soren served as Coal Minister in the Central Government and was elected as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand three times. Known for his unwavering commitment to tribal welfare and grassroots development, he was widely respected as a leader of the people.

Battling Health Issues in Recent Months
According to former state minister Badal Patralekh, Soren had been suffering from health complications for the past two months. He passed away on Monday at the age of 81, leaving a legacy of courage, service, and leadership behind.
