New Delhi, August 16, 2025 – The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) reported a strong response to its newly launched Annual Toll Pass Scheme, with around 1.4 lakh FASTag users purchasing the pass on the very first day. A similar number of transactions were recorded at toll plazas across National Highways (NHs) and National Expressways (NEs).
The scheme, rolled out from Thursday midnight, aims to make highway travel faster and more convenient for regular commuters.
How the Annual Toll Pass Works
The annual pass allows non-commercial vehicles with a valid FASTag to travel without repeated recharges. For a one-time payment of ₹3,000, the pass remains valid for one year or 200 toll plaza crossings — whichever comes first. The pass is activated within two hours of payment via the Rajmargyatra App or the NHAI website.
Smooth Operations Across Toll Plazas
NHAI confirmed that around 1,150 toll plazas are now equipped to process annual passes. Officials have been deployed at each location to ensure hassle-free travel for pass holders.
The authority also revealed that 20,000–25,000 users are concurrently using the Rajmargyatra App at any given time. Pass holders are receiving SMS confirmations indicating zero toll deductions.
Enhanced Support for Users
To handle queries and complaints, NHAI has strengthened its 1033 NH helpline, adding over 100 new executives to improve response times. Users can also raise concerns through the app and website.
The new scheme is expected to reduce congestion, encourage digital toll payments, and provide significant cost benefits to frequent highway travelers.
